Katie, my handyman's wife, sent this along to me and I thought it worthy of sharing as it is so easy:

* Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1/2 vinegar. To create pressure, immediately
cover the drain and let sit 15"
Follow wit a kettle of boiling water (about 2 quarts).
Use this treatment regularly to prevent clogged drains and keep them smelling fresh. (Metro)

* Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 3 cups of boiling water. (Whole Living Magazine)
