Warehouse 13's clone...............

Asian Dragon
I watched the pilot last night and was immediately struck by how much it resembles a series awhile back.
It featured an older man who owned a shop FULL of items for sale, e.g. old lamps, dishes, jewelry, furniture etc.
.....BUT in the basement were the REAL items that required attention.
He had two young people, Ryan and Nicky who helped him round up the items that needed to be put behind
a locked door.
Does anyone remember that series? I thought it was called Friday The Thirteenth, but may be wrong
Anyway, this new series is a modern version in a warehouse, instead of a store with a basement, but the
rest of it is very much like that old series.
I feel it could be good, or it could grow stale depending on now good the writers are in keeping it alive.
After all, SGA started out good in The Rising and look at the disaster it became later on.
Finally, I am looking forward to JF as a guest.
I am in a drought pattern right now and could use a little hydration.

Ooh, I remember the show you're talking about. It had a nice, creepy opening with a lot of Victorian items. It was kind of spooky and creepy and sometimes really sad. Thanks for mentioning it because I really enjoyed that show.

It's on IMdb. Friday the 13th: The Series

THANK YOU!!!!
I knew I had the right title of the show and am shocked I remembered any details......
OK I thought her name was Nicki and it turns out be Micki
The first floor of a creepy curio shop....a lot of 'stuff'
but the REAL prizes were in a locked vault downstairs..
AND
it could REALLY get hairy at times....
Warehouse reminds me of that show, which should not surprise me since there does not seem to be a lot of creative writing anymore......

I am not sure what I think about Warehouse 13. I watched last night's episode and didn't turn it off:) I agree with you that it could be good. I have hopes that it will be with the guests and the fact that Jane Espenson is working on the show. She wrote for Battlestar Galactica and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (both shows I love). I am keeping my fingers crossed and going to watch next week's episode. I was so happy to see Joe Flanigan in the previews:)

GMTA
I have mixed feelings also
For those who said they wished JF had signed on, I am not
sure I would want to see that happenn and besides I think there are some issues, as in unresolved, regarding Sci Fi, er, ScyFy and JF.
IMO JM is not the only culprit in the demise of a great cast and show.

Re: I am not sure what I think about Warehouse 13.
I also get the impression that JF was not thrilled with SyFy for not renewing Atlantis. I was listening to the commentaries on the DVDs for Season 5 and got the impression that the producers were sometimes annoyed with JF. Apparently he didn't always read all the scripts so wasn't always sure what was going on with the other characters until it effected something he had to say. IMO, I just want to see him in something again:)

he didn't always read all the scripts
No kidding?????
LOL
Maybe it was because it was so humdrum and he felt it
needed resuscitation
I found a fair number of episodes bordering on severe
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
It was fine first part, but as time went on the boredom
factor no doubt had to not only affect me but the cast.
I have read so many pieces of ff so much better than most
of the stuff they passed off and got paid $$$$$$, which really
amazes me.
When it was good, it was very good, but when it was
boring, it was very zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Joe said he wished they had done more like VEGAS, earlier
I could not agree more.

Re: he didn't always read all the scripts
I wish they would have done more with the characters' backstories. I also wish they would have done more team stories. I loved it when the whole team was together! Oh well. I am really hoping the movie gets made and that it is very well done.

Re: he didn't always read all the scripts
Joe said something about that too, BUT they were too busy adoring Jill, Amanda, and whoever the actor was who relieved Amanada's character. I could care and it is obvious when I cannot repeat the latter's name.
It was so annoying.
I also heard Joe said that it was fine to have SG1 as guests, but he saw Atlantis as a separate entity. Too bad the higher echelon didn't.
SG1 was finished as a series but guess they could not leave it alone.
Amanda got her own series and BTW what is it with her sudden English accent? Why would she need to don it for Sanctuary? I don't watch it as there is nothing of interest there anymore than there was with SG1
I found SGA by a trailer on another cable station and when I saw Sheppard, my interest was immediately peeked.

Re: he didn't always read all the scripts
I found SGA in its 3rd season. I really didn't start watching SciFi until Battlestar Galactica and SG-1 came on before it at the time. I watched all of the seasons of SG-1 during a series break and needed more and was told not to watch Atlantis, but I did anyway and ended up liking it more than SG-1...mostly because of Sheppard:)

Re: he didn't always read all the scripts
I never watched SG1 and would never have known about SGA had it not been for some trailers on another cable station......and they all happen to have Sheppard in them.
That was it for me.
I have seen a few SG1s and the characters are flat IMO.......
I never liked Anderson in McGvyer, I realize I will take some flak for saying that, but that show never did anything but bore me.......
And Mitchell is monotonous to listen to.......I hear Browder was up for the Sheppard role. Had that happened I would never have watched SGA
I hear he was good in Farscape which has a lot of fans to this day, but I don't know that character either. I just know when I laid eyes on Sheppard, I made a note, on paper, of when the pilot was showing.
I just hope JF can bring some other role to the small screen which will exhibit some of the talent he showed in some of the episodes of SGA.

I remember that show - wow, haven't thought of that show in a while. I was working while watching, so I really only got parts of Warehouse 13. I'll watch for a while anyway - it seems to have possibilities. I'll definitely hang in there til Joe does his guest shot - don't want to miss that. I read a little about his role - do we know which episode it will be? Couldn't seem to find that.

there was a sneak peek at Joe at the end when they showed a lot of previews.
He was lookin' mighty.

OK not the squared away Sheppard, but
I am willing to take his 5 o'clock shadow and whatever.....
Mind you, not as bad as Det. Sheppard in VEGAS.
And speaking of 5 o'clock shadow, I noticed sometimes
Sheppard was even sporting it.
:P

The SGA cancellation decision came from Brad Wright, Robert Cooper & the folks at MGM, not Skiffy.

1) MGM wanted a bigger slice of the pie & they figured direct to video movies w/o having to pay airing rights to Skiffy would get them that.

2) Wright & Cooper had SGU lined up (Gee, can you say SGA revised to better fit their "ideal" show? :p) and didn't want to do 2 shows at once again.

3) JF was irked at them for their handling of certain characters and had spoken out against it - i.e. the firing of Torri Higginson. (They literally didn't tell her until the last day of shooting s3 that they were dropping her to a recurring vs. regular character in S4.) That was the first schism... But, of course, that pompous bastard Mallozzi & Mullie knew what they were doing! They thought it was a "good idea" to "shake things up." (i.e. get rid of 2 fan favorites!)

The show you are thinking of is indeed Friday the 13th - the stuff in the basement/shop was almost all cursed & they were on a quest to gather it all back up before it could harm anyone else. Some relative had done one of those "Let's make a deal" scenarios w/ the devil and that's how the shop was cursed. It's been years since I've seen it, but I do remember the premise of it. (Man, do I have a memory for the oddest stuff at times.... *lol*)

Have not seen Warehouse 13 yet - will watch tomorrow, since that's my day off from Job 1. ;)

I realize my opinion means nothing, but I feel they did a real
injustice to what had started out very appealing.
Shaking it up doesn't always work cuz
'if it ain't broke don't fix it' applied here IMO, but then again I was just a fan.
Joe owned Sheppard. The character does not become Sheppard just because it exists on paper. It becomes alive by the actor putting himself/herself into the role.....yet few apparently understood that and instead blew Joe off when he voiced anything about the characters.
Bringing Jill on board was nauseating from the start for me.......and I did NOT want Carter either.
I felt exactly like Ronon did when she came on board. In the Navy Carter would never assume command. She would be seen as restricted......ie specialty but not command rank.
And speaking of SG1 has beens, I hear Joe thought they were fine as guests, but the powers that be were so wrapped up in saving SG1........
I also did not find Carter's replacement any better than she was. I found him to be an annoying dufus; all those little quirks did nothing to endear him to me.
Basically they rolled over the military expedition in favor of what? Not sure to this day. It was like 'and the expedition'.........
If it had not been for them, Atlantis would have folded early on.........but once again the powers that be failed to understand that and the writers just reinforced that mentality.
It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I can see why JF felt that the cast were expendable.
I refuse to watch SGU and hope the result is similar to the treatment they offered to the cast of SGU and to the SGA fans.
BTW had I been an actor, I would not have been interested in accepting a role in SGU given how SGA had turned out.

You're preaching to the choir. :)

Joe owned Sheppard as Hewlett owns McKay - go check out Shaddyr's absolutely hilarious write up on the Point Roberts 4th of July parade - DH tried to start a new career as a rapper. *laugh*

But, who is Jill? I'm confused on that point. :)

But, who is JIll?

You know when I wrote 'Jill' I kind of had this nagging feeling that I was not on track...
***rolls eyes***
I am trying to balance so many balls in the air right now that sometimes I wonder how I keep my sanity...and they have nothing to do with SGA/LJ etc. They are all tedious life issues
:P
Her name is Jewel, Jewell, whatever.
IMO she should have stayed aboard the mother ship in Firefly as their mechanic. She sure isn't doctor material.
And BTW I knew when I went on my rant that I was preaching to the choir.......but it felt sooooooooooooo good doing it.
