MAD MAX #4

If this flies I hope George will return to the Road Warrior formula. I believe it was the best
And speaking of MM, when Tina Turner was asked if she would ever reprise her role as Aunty Entity in Thunderdome, she replied "Only if I could kill him this time"

FURY ROAD EDGES CLOSER TO PRODUCTION

If filmmaker George Miller had his way, Australian actors wouldn't have to leave the country to find employment in major studio films. Miller, writer/director of the Mad Max films, is prepping Mad Max 4, eyeing an August 2010 start date in New South Wales for the $100 million film.

It's been nearly 25 years since audiences were last treated to the exploits of
Mel Gibson as Mad Max in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and, if everything clicks into place, audiences won't have to wait that much longer for the fourth adventure of Mad Max. Miller's aiming for a 2011 release of Mad Max: Fury Road.

In an interview with the Australian media.
Miller said this new Mad Max is going to reflect the changes in action films since the original 1978 Mad Max and will "nudge the genre." Miller also made it clear he hasn't finalized the cast yet, despite all the rumors on the internet. However, although Miller didn't confirm or deny Gibson's involvement, it's likely the 53 year old original Mad Max won't be returning. Names being thrown around as potential replacements include Bronson RocknRolla's Tom Hardy and Terminator's Salvation/Avatar's Sam Worthington

I love those movies with a fiery passion. Yep, even Thunderdome, lol. If they get Sam Worthington, I might actually explode.

OK, I guess I need to ask, since you said you might explode,
who is Sam? Never heard of him
BTW when I was in SA we went out to the site where Max gets his firt look at Aunty Entity's city far off.........we were at Coober Pedy and drove out there. I thought it looked familiar and when the guide overheard me say that, he said "Should, this is where Thunderdome was filmed"
I love the OZ outback........wild and wonderful.

I'd love to see Coober Pedy. Though possibly when it's not blazing hot.

I've only posted about Sam Worthington 2345879203452 times, lol. See icon. And imdb. Yet another fine import from Australia.

We were there at a very good time..........it was maybe 80
which is enjoyable
When we were out in the area where they shot Thunderdome
I picked up some iron ore pebbles........the place is littered
with it......I also brought back some rough cuts of rock with opal embedded, the stuff that they would not crack to polish.

We slept above ground. There were underground motels but our accommodations were above.
Most of the population lives underground year round and it looks much like the scenes in Star Wars where we first encounter Luke Skywalker and like that part of Star Wars, Coober Pedy, and surrounding area, is quite surreal.
I remembering waking up quite early the morning following our arrival and I opened the door and stuck my head out.......it was so eerily silent save for wind that NEVER stops blowing in the outback
I remember thinking "this must be what it would be like being on the surface of the moon"......
No matter how much you try, you are covered in a thin layer of red dust......the window sill in my bathroom had a fine dust even though the window was closed.
I love the outback despite all the annoying part of it.
That outback trip began in Sydney on a reconfigured DC-3...I was the only American on board, the rest of the passengers were all Aussies.
The DC-3 can land and take off on a postage stamp and since so many of the areas we visited e.g. Birdsville in Queensland, had such poor strips, it was perfect, and Coober Pedy was not much better at that time.

I've seen a couple things about Coober Pedy on the travel channel and wanted to go there ever since. I would love to stay in one of those underground hotels. Even though some of the walls look like they were scraped out of the ground by something with gimungous claws. Which, now that I think about it, is pretty cool.

Interesting. I'd heard about them making a new Mad Max, and something about it being stalled because they were filming in the Middle East and the war shut things down. Can't say if what I heard was true, though *shrugs*

I'm a big Mad Max fan, especially of Thunderdome. Can't say if it'll be the same without Mel, but if it's the same guy directing then things should be good. Although a lot will also depend on who they cast as the next Max.

I have mixed feelings about Thunderdome.
I felt that Aunty Entity could have done more to make Max's life miserable before she sent him off into the outback to die. e.g. I think he should have spent a bit of time down in the bowels of the city with the giant and the dwarf.....or maybe a bit of servitude to Aunty.
Oh but wait a minute, I guess I might be confusing Thunderdome with Castles in the Sky..
:P

They haven't cast it yet, let alone started filming. And I'm fairly certain I heard something about the intent to make it easier for folks in the Aussie film industry to actually work in Australia, so I imagine that's where they intend to film it. Given what they've got to work with down there, I'm more than happy with that decision. Whoo boy.

There are many untapped areas of OZ to shoot a film like MM4, e.g.
Queenlands in the west and Northern Territory, as well as SA which is where Thunderdome was shot......There is also WA.
Miles and miles of outback.........
On one trip I drove down the track, highway built during WWII, from Darwin to Tennant Creek.....I never saw another car, plenty of road trains, HUGE truck cabs pulling three or four trailers, but no other cars.......
I love it all. The wildlife is amazing too in the outback.
I would love to go back. My interest is primarily in areas where most tourists don't go since it normally does not feature a lot of stuff that tourists seek, just your plain basic accommodations, pub food etc.
One of my more interesting trips was to WA. Initially I visited Perth, but then traveled to Kalgoorlie in gold country. I stayed in a hotel that I figured had changed little since it was built.....In Kalgoorlie as well as surrounding areas, gold was the primary business. Serious business. The pub at night was crawling with thirsty miners......and there was a even a working
red light district to accommodate them.
